Ireland’s temperate climate, abundant rainfall and tradition of family farming have resulted in a grass-fed system with cows grazing outdoors for the majority of the year.
80% of Ireland’s agricultural land is devoted to grasslands, with a yearly grass growth rate that exceeds the European average by more than a third. Grazing on such rich pastureland, our cows produce milk of the highest quality.
Sustainable Beef and Lamb
There are over 50,000 farmers in the Sustainable Beef and Lamb Assurance Scheme (SBLAS). Through this scheme, auditors inspect Origin Green farms every 18 months ensuring sustainable farm practices are in place.
Horticultural growers, packers and produce handlers become Origin Green members through Bord Bia’s Sustainable Horticulture Assurance Scheme (SHAS). The Origin Green programme operates at a primary producer level through SHAS and other Bord Bia Assurance Schemes.
Sustainable Egg Production
Origin Green comprises of over 240 certified members covering 97% of Ireland's egg production. Members include hen rearers, egg producers, and egg packers ensuring quality and sustainability across the entire egg production chain.
