About the company

Through a series of life events, this farming family decided to sell their cows in 2004 and set up a bakery in the disused milking parlour. A love of good food is something that was, and still is, a Lawless family passion. They have a life-long belief that "good food promotes good health", so they took great care in preparing their own breakfasts, lunchbox snacks and treats day-to-day. When this way of life turned into a business, the company applied that same simple rule to all its delicious products whether or not they are vegan, free from gluten, or free from dairy.

Key Sustainability Commitments

Committed to Responsible Sourcing

The Foods of Athenry aim to reduce the use of Palm Oil in their products from 2018; and currently use only sustainably sourced palm oil containing raw materials.

Focus on Health and Nutrition

As part of their mindful eating philosophy - additional lines are being introduced to their miniatures ranges, with portion control a priority for greater peace of mind and a lighter moment of enjoyment. Working towards healthier snacking for children - new healthier alternative products specifically aimed towards children are in the pipeline for 2018.

Supporting Local Charities

The Foods of Athenry donate products that are close to their sell-by date to local charities. They regularly deliver products to the Bia Food Initiative whom then deliver this produce to various charities.
