About the company

Since the 1830's, five generations of the O'Shea family have farmed along the banks of the river Suir in Piltown, Co. Kilkenny. From the time of its establishment, the family owned business has witnessed an upward trajectory of growth and is now a major player in the horticultural production and food distribution system. O'Shea's currently farm 1,600 acres focusing mainly on producing and delivering top quality fresh Irish potatoes & carrots to its end customers.

Spotlight Target Area: Certification
O’Shea Farms have developed long-standing relationships with its suppliers, Aldi
(Potatoes & Carrots) and Musgraves Ireland (Carrots). Consistent quality and freshness
are the cornerstones to its business, a vision which is also endorsed by both
suppliers. The company’s commitment to sourcing fresh quality produce, has been a
contributing factor in transforming the farm business. Supplying both retailers has
allowed O’Shea Farms to build and invest in its farm business and strengthens the
overall commitment to innovation in response to ever-changing customer needs.
The company is committed to investing in the latest technological advances to drive
efficiencies wherever possible and lessen its overall environmental impact.
Within the area of supplier certification, the company is performing strongly with 97%
of the company’s growers certified to the Bord Bia Sustainable Horticulture Assurance
Scheme (SHAS). The company also continues to maintain its own certification to
SHAS, with a vision to become Ireland’s most recognised potato and carrot packer and
grower. By fully embracing a continuous commitment to farm sustainability, O’Shea
Farms’ ambition is to maintain its longstanding family legacy to ensure it becomes not
only a sustainable producer for this generation but for future generations to come.
