In 1996 the Porterhouse Templebar opened, brewing its own stouts, Ales and Lagers. The bar is situated on Parliament Street at the entrance to the cultural quarter of Templebar and was the first brew pub in Dublin. Over 20 years later the continued expansion of the Porterhouse group of pubs and restaurants along with significant growth in the export market resulted in a new breweries being created in Ballycoolin and Glasnevin.

The Porterhouse Brewing Co have committed to having 75% of malt and hop suppliers coming from suppliers with recognised sustainability certifications by 2018.
Commitment to donate 50% of Spent hops hops for fertilizer to local community garden initiatives by 2018
