With over 125 years of experience and tradition in dairy farming, Lakeland Dairies Co-operative has grown to be a market leader in the production of high-quality dairy based products for customers around the world.
Operating within a 15 county catchment area across Ireland, fresh milk is collected on a daily basis from approximately 2,500 family farms. Using unrivalled expertise and state-of-the-art machinery, the company processes over one billion litres of milk annually into a wide range of value-added dairy foodservice products and functional dairy food ingredients, which are then exported to over 70 countries.
Its dedicated research and development teams work collaboratively with customers to bring new products to market, working in tandem with its sales and marketing teams to identify future trends and market opportunities.
Water Management: Target to achieve a water reduction target of 15% by 31st December 2018 versus 2013 baseline. They are on track to achieve this and have already achieved a reduction of 11.64 % m3 of water used per Tonne of product was achieved in 2016 versus the 2013 Baseline due to water efficiency improvements made throughout the factories.
Target set to Reduction General Waste to Landfill Target of 15% by 2019. Total waste to landfill in 2016 was 102.26tonnes which was a decrease on baseline landfill volumes of 52.86%
