Founded in 1908, Tipperary Cooperative is a farmer/shareholder owned co-operative with a motto of ‘Better Farming – Better Business – Better Living.’ Tipperary’s milk intake is approximately 200 million litres, with a processing capacity in excess of one million litres of milk per day. The milk is processed into: cheese, butter, milk powders and other dairy products for export and home markets in its modern manufacturing plant in Tipperary Town. The Co-op manufactures 35,000 tonnes of product annually.
Raw Material Sourcing:
Tipperary Cooperative have the goal of sourcing 100% of milk from suppliers certified to a sustainable dairy assurance scheme by 2021.
Tipperary Cooperative aim to reduce our energy usage by 2.5% Kwh / tonne of product by 2021.
The Tipperary Cooperative has reduced our energy usage on our main manufacturing site by 18.5% in 2018 when compared to 2017 and this has resulted in a 17.4% reduction in our CO emissions. Additionally, the site has successfully implemented ISO50001 – the certified Energy Management System.
Tipperary Cooperative have set a target of reducing water usage by 5% over 5 years.
2018 saw a 2.4% reduction in water usage when compared to our 2017 performance.
