Kush Shellfish is a family-run Irish seafood business based in Kenmare Bay, off the Beara Peninsula on the south-west coast of Ireland. Established in 1987, the company has built an excellent reputation for premium Irish shellfish combined with sterling customer service.
The company strives to provide customers with succulent, natural shellfish with the delicate taste of the pure Special Area of Conservation (SAC) waters where they are grown.
Kush Sea farms have a commitment to only grow mussels with a certified organic standard or environmentally friendly equivalent.
Kush Sea farms are part of the local CLAMS (Co-ordinated local aquaculture management system) group. This group brings together all the mussel farmers in the area to discuss the issues in the harbour and resolving them through collaboration and participates in a shore clean-up every year together with this group.
Kush Sea farms hosts visits from groups, schools or industry to show them the farm and explain how a mussel farm works from the collection of the seed to harvesting and explaining the low impact that the activity has in the Kenmare river ecosystem. Kush have hosted international groups from Germany and France as well as local schools in the past 3 years.
