About the company

Lidl entered the Irish retail space in 2000, now with over 160 stores, 3 distribution centres and over 5,000 staff across the country, committed to being a responsible retailer. Lidl joined Bord Bia's Origin Green Sustainable Development programme in 2017 to achieve 3rd party verification of the A Better Tomorrow sustainability strategy and framework to progress targets.

Lidl's programme 'A Better Tomorrow' involved the development of a comprehensive sustainability strategy with 30 clear targets and KPIs, across four core pillars: Responsible sourcing, Protecting the Environment, Team Lidl and Lidl Community Works. Major environmental achievements that have already been achieved include zero waste to landfill, ISO50001 energy management accreditation in all buildings, battery recycling campaign throughout all our stores, and green electricity across all operations

Lidl also launched its renewable energy programme and certified many of their own-brand products to sustainability programmes. Follow Lidl's progress on https://www.abettertomorrow-lidl.ie/
